First Weeks of School

We now have two full weeks of school under our belts. It has been rough at times, but by the last day of the second week, Josh and Jay actually got their work done before dinner. Josh did four days of school at James work. He gets it done much quicker without distractions at home. Initially I was threatening with no dinner if they didn’t get school and chores done by dinner, but then I had a hard time following through. The new rule is only veggies for dinner if they don’t get it done. That is much easier for me to implement. I don’t feel bad, they still eat, and it still motivates them. Josiah and Jonathan are doing great. On Thursday, Josiah got two days of school done so that he could be off on Friday. Every day I have an assistant of the day. That is working out pretty well. I don’t think the kids like it as much because they feel like they don’t get a day off during the week. Welcome to my world, kids! They get plenty of time off, even when they are my helper. They have no idea the kind of work kids of two generations ago had to do, and they never will.

Happy First Birthday, Jedaiah!!

Jedaiah had his first birthday last Friday, September 17th. He has been another easy baby. He is starting to talk quite a bit. He like to tell me what he thinks. He doesn’t actually say anything in English yet (except Mumma and Dadda). He is busy trying to walk. He’ll stand up, walk four to five steps and fall. I expect he’ll be walking in the next couple weeks. He loves his siblings, especially Rachel. If he’s crying, she can comfort him pretty easily. When he’s really happy, he makes this noise where he suck in air, it is so precious. It says to me, “my life is so good right now”. He like to go in the swing while I hang laundry. Sometimes Jesse or Rachel like to join him.

On Turning Forty...

On Labor Day, I turned forty. We had a great weekend and even got to have family over on my birthday (it was for Jonathan’s birthday that we had postponed due to illness). I reflected on turning forty that weekend. I was hanging the laundry outside, realizing how wonderfully blessed I am. I can’t imagine life any better than the life I’m living at forty. Then again, I never imagined how great my life would be at this age and with this many children. I’m sure if God had let me plan it out for myself, it would have never turned out this good. It was such a joyful weekend! I am so thankful to God for the marvelous grace that he has poured out on me. I am thankful to Jesus, for saving my soul, giving me eternal life and an abundant life here on earth.
