Jed-DY-Yah Turned a Week Old

Jedaiah turned a week old on Thursday. He is doing well, sleeping most of the time. He's sleeping well at night too. He eats around 9:00 p.m. and then again around 1-2 a.m. and then again around 6:00. I'm pretty happy with that. Our Sunday school class has been blessing us with meals. That has helped me to take it a little easier and get more rest.

Last week the older two boys schooled the younger two and that worked out pretty well. I didn't have to do too much. This week we start back to school. I'm hoping it won't be too stressful. We have two more school weeks until we move. YEAH!!! Then Jay and Josiah will take a week off and the older two will do school (that is the plan anyways).

A cute picture of Jesse, holding Jedaiah.

All the kids visit us at the hospital last Friday.
Right now I'm up at James' office, using his higher speed internet. The whole family is here at the office. James and the older boys are doing some yard work outside. Some of the others are playing on the computer. Jedaiah is getting hungry sitting in his car seat on James' desk.
I took more pictures of the house, but didn't like the lighting in them. I'll try taking more soon. Most of the trim and doors are on. Two toilets are in and they work. A lot of the plumbing is done. The tile in our bedroom should be done by early next week. Then the carpet. By the end of next week most of the house will be done. Then one more week to tie things up and get the inspection for the occupency permit. We all can't wait.

Jedaiah Scott is here!!!

Lori is a bit tied up now so she asked me to update her blog. She went for a checkup yesterday and was told her obstetrician was about to go on vacation. He asked if she wanted to go in for an induction. We did, and after about 7 hours, the baby was here at 10:45 pm on September 17, 2009. He was 8 pounds, 10 ounces, and 22 inches long. He has a lot of dark hair, which is unusual for our kids. We think he looks like Jesse (except the hair), but that may just be because Jesse is the most recent baby and we remember him the best.
The name Jedaiah is in a few places in the old testament. He build part of the wall in the book of Nehemiah. In another book, he was a priest. Overall, he souns like he was a good guy (or guys). The name means "praise God," "God knows," or "God protects." Scott is the name of the man who is building our house. We have been blessed by him, and wanted a name to remind us of this unique summer that we have spent, pregnant, living in a fifth wheel, and building a house. Thanks Scott!

Mom and baby are doing well. We all got some sleep last night, and he is nursing well.

A Quick Post

I'm ready to have this baby now that the busyness of the last couple weeks is over. Last Friday I was 1-2 centimeters dialated. I'm hoping to deliver within the next week. We'll see. I'm trying to be patient and trust in God's timing. This weekend James is on call, so that could be interesting.

Yesterday I took some video of the house and loaded it on dropshots. It is getting exciting. Our builder thinks we're still on track to be done the first week of October. It is a lot of fun to see cabinets going in and flooring getting done. It is all looking so nice.

Jonathan went to the Bible Bee on Saturday and did pretty well, he thought, compared to the other kids. We won't find out results for a few days.

Off to school we go...

I'm Glad I'm NOT in Labor this Labor Day Weekend

We (the younger three kids and I) are enjoying this holiday weekend. Thursday night we dropped James and the boys (along with another friend of ours) off for a four day hike (about 30 miles). Unfortunately, the trip took much longer than expected and we didn't get home until midnight. I drove over eight hours (there and back), which is a lot for me, especially being as pregnant as I am. God answered our prayers and got us home safely and without too much difficulty.

We were home around 12:30 a.m. and the kids didn't sleep in on Saturday morning. At the moment I'm pretty exhausted. Yesterday the kids and I went shopping all day with my mother-in-law. We had a nice time. I picked out my birthday present, which was bath mats and towels for our master bedroom in our new house. That is something I wanted to have when we move in.

Today, we're just hanging around, getting some stuff done. I got the car seat ready for the baby and I lugged the suitcase upstairs so that I can't start thinking about packing for the hospital. Yesterday was my OB appointment and nothing is happening. I'm not dialated at all, and that's fine with me, since James can't be reached by cell phone. As of yesterday, I have three weeks until my due date. I'm hoping not to go into labor for about two more weeks, and I don't expect I will.

This morning we went out to the house to do some cleaning up outside. The weather is so cool and comfortable and that makes it nice to be outside picking up trash. The painter was there, painting the living room area. I'm not sure if he'll get done this weekend or not, but the flooring should be able to begin Monday, as planned. Our garage doors are in and the garage is basically finished, as far as it is going to be for now. We plan to do more to finish it later.

Next weekend I hope to take some video of the house so you can get an idea of the layout. I'll try and post some pictures from the hike too. Oh ya, one more thing. We have these two cats. Both were up in the wheel well of Paw-Paw's truck this morning. One made it out with a leg injury. One didn't make it out until Lee got to town. He is pretty bad, but still alive. We're not sure what to do about it. As I look out the window, I see he's still breathing. One leg is broke for sure and we're not sure about the other lets. It is the kid's favorite one, so I guess we'll just try to help it as best we can. The boys will be sad when they come home. We hope to get more kittens soon. We started with four kittens and we're down to two, and soon maybe one. I hope we can do better with the next batch.
